Message From The President of Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT)
The term “food technology” may have an abstract ring to it. Perhaps this is because it involves the application of scientific principles in all aspects of the food supply chain, from production, preservation and processing to packaging and distribution. In other words, it pertains to ensuring the quality and safety of food products through research and development.
The Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT) was founded in 1974 to bring together food scientists and technologists in the country, the only non-governmental organization to do so in Malaysia. Today, we count over 800 trained food scientists, technologists, researchers, managers and educators as members.
Since our inception, we have continued to provide a platform for the exchange and dissemination of information. It is also an important objective that we promote our industry by raising public awareness and educational standards. To this end, we have over the years organized many training courses, workshops, seminars, conferences and expositions, both at the national and international level. These include the ASEAN Food Conference, International Food Research Conference and the National Food Science and Technology Competition. Our events for this year may have been postponed in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we will continue to find alternative ways to engage with our members and the general public. One of them is by providing online trainings on focus subject matter that is of interest to our members.
Our inclusion in the Malaysia Food Business Directory 2020/2021 is much welcomed. This is an esteemed publication presented in an easily digestible format and packed with key information that not only aims to assist users in making good business decisions but also helps to increase the reach of the listed companies. The value of a comprehensive directory such as this cannot be overstated.
Our sincere thanks and heartiest congratulations to Marshall Cavendish (M) Sdn Bhd.
